The biannual Newport Bermuda Race starts on Friday with the first warning signal at 1 pm. Whether you’re tracking a loved one’s progress or just spectating an event that draws pros and weekend warriors alike, there are plenty of ways to stay up to watch.
The starting line will be at the mouth of the East Passage of Narragansett Bay, so if you’re local there are several great vantage points in Newport or Jamestown. Race sponsor Castle Hill Inn offers ringside seating on its lawn, and Brenton Point State Park and the state parks at Fort Wetherill and Beavertail on the Jamestown side also offer great views.
If you’re not in town, there will be a live show broadcast here the day of. Joe Cooper, Kate Somers and John Burnham will talk about the boats, teams and starting events. You can also find the livestream on the bermudarace.com homepage.
Once the boats are off, check out the Bluenose Yacht Sales YB Tracker and social media channels for real-time updates throughout the race.
